Mouth problems

Hi,

while I don't smoke, I live in a country where its OK for people to smoke in cafés and restaurants with no ventilation.

I am worried about my mouth. I don't go out very often but over the holidays I was exposed to smoke two or three nights. I am constantly checking my mouth to see if I have developed some sort of cancer. Now I see the bottom of my mouth ( where the salivary glands are) and I am not sure if it is just irritation from the smoke but I see dark veins and it appears to be a little puffy on the right side.

I cant afford to go to the doctor right now since I just spent all of my money at the vets (how ironic). Do you think I have cause to be concerned?

Thank you so much for your reply!

I am so worried, its all I can think about.

Your post has calmed me a little but I am still monitoring the part that looks a little bit bloated.

I will post again next week for an update.

Thank you again for your post

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Please relax! Just a casual exposure once in a while does not cause cancer. Prominent veins are very common and disappear on their own. Oral cancer occurs in the form of persistent red or white patch, a plaque, a painful area, non-healing ulcer etc. Do not touch the veins and do not irritate your mouth’s mucosa unnecessarily.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
