Mystery PAIN

I have been experiencing terrible pain in my tailbone area, and also a little above. When i go to get up It takes about three goes and each time i get up a little further i cry out. At night my legs hurt terribly, a hot throbbing pain, all the way to my feet and sometimes it feels as if the skin on my legs are burning. I worked while i was pregnant, was never given any breaks and fell three times on concrete due to a sewage backup, once i landed directly on my butt, the other time flat on my knees, and the last time i rolled, and that hurt the least. This was all during the last month of my pregnancy, and i didn't notice any pain until after i had my child. Also I was abused as a child/teen, my mom OFTEN kicked me in the behind, and when i was in third grade i developed a limp which grew progressively worse until i could no longer move that leg at all and my knee continuosly spasmed which caused severe pain up and down my leg (left which is also the one i have the most trouble with now) the hospital was unable to diagnose me and after about 3 weeks the pain disappeard and i regained function of my leg. THEY TOOK NO x-rays... IDK whats wrong with me, but i am in pain and can't sleep HELP

I can tell you that my grandmother woke up one day and had major problems in her legs and hips. She found it really hard to walk, after a few months she could no longer walk and was bed ridden. She is now up an functioning with a walker. She tried everything she could think of to make the pain in her legs go away. She described it as a constant tingling as if the fell asleep and were waking up. The doctors finally gave her a prescription for arthritis and as that started to take affect she was able to work through the rest of it. It has been about 3-4 years since this started. I don't know if it is the same thing but I know that all the test they ran on my grandmother never came out with anything.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Tailbone pain or coccydynia or coccygodynia is caused by the coccyx (the last vertebra) dislocating when you sit. It is often caused by falling backwards or high pressure jerks or by childbirth. In about a third of cases the cause of pain is not known. Use a well-padded seat or air tubes when sitting. Avoid long periods of sitting in one posture. Anti inflammatory drugs, pain killers, local analgesic creams all help to some extent. Some benefit by local steroid injection at the site of the pain.
It could also be due to bone disease or, nerve compression. A combined approach of a neurologist and an orthopedic specialist is needed. A MRI should definitely be done.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
