Night shakes and dizziness

My husband woke last night with severe shaking.  He asked me if he might have a fever.  He did not have a fever so I covered him up well and we prayed.  After about 30 minutes or more his body calmed.  He did not sleep well the remainder of the night.  He had been dealing with a pretty good case of vertigo over the week end and this shaking occurred on Sunday night.  He is 59 years old in good health and sees his doctor twice a year.  He has high cholesterol and takes meds for that and vertigo but over than that he is in great health.  He weights more than he ever has and is quite heavy currently.  He does walk occasionally but he is a minister and a counselor and sits for long hours most days.  He is a snorer.  Can someone give me some direction as to what he should do as he will most likely not think it worth an extra trip to his doctor.  Also he started taking Coffee Bean yesterday twice a day.  Could that have had some effect on him?

He might also benefit from a sleep study.  Many heavy people who snore have sleep apnea, which leaves them feeling overtired and sluggish, which stresses the body further. Some very strange symptoms can develop in someone who is chronically sleep deprived. If he has sleep apnea, he would feel a lot better with a CPAP or other appropriate breathing aid.

God bless him for ministering to others!

most likely what happened to him last night is related with the dizziness he had before.

coffee is not the problem but rather the reason why he's taking it might be related with the rest...  was he feeling sleepy, lack of concentration, lack of short term memory?

it'd be a good idea to take note of the event and start keeping a log!

has he been to crowded places during the week?
any other symptoms like loose stool or urinary tract infections? bad coordination, muscular weakness?

one thing he could do is Complete blood count + esr.

to help him sleep better he could try Paracetamol just before going to bed.

I think he had a reaction to too much caffiene and that made him hypersensitive maybe and he had a panic like attack. If he was aware of what he was doing the whole time I don't think it was a seizure. It is great you checked for fever too. Has he been more stressed lately? I get the same thing but I have migraines too and they seem to be connected. The doctors don't think mine are seizures either. I did get an electroencephalogram (EEG) to see if I had abnormal brain waves that indicate seizure. My EEG is positive for migriane/seizure pattern but I have migraines and auras plus the shakes at times. I would stop all caffiene or at least any extra and see if that helps. If he get this again I would talk to the doctor and maybe see a neurologist to be sure.
Regards
