Not a yeast infection and not an STI. What could it be??

I have been living with these symptoms for the past 2 months. I don't have health insurance, so the only place I can really afford is Planned Parenthood. I have been to two different clinics twice and have gotten the same answer: we don't know.

I did have unprotected sex with a someone I didn't know too well before these symptoms arose. The sex was really rough and I was in pain for a few days afterwards. A week later I noticed itching but no burning around my vagina. I went to the doctor and was tested for everything that could cause the itch and they said it was a yeast infection and gave me Diflucan. It helped for about a day and then stopped. I went back to the same clinic a week later and got another dose which helped for three days this time and then stopped. All my test for STI's came back negative.

A month and a half later, I moved and had to go to a new PP because I was still experiencing the itchiness. I started to notice that it burned during and after urination. So, I went and had all the STI tests done again as well as a yeast infection test and they all came up negative. The doctor shrugged her shoulders and said I need to go to a obgyn because they couldn't help me past the STI and yeast infection checks.
I don't have any money. I don't have health insurance - I don't qualify for state aid (I make too much to qualify which to qualify you have to make $600 or less) and I have a pre-existing condition that has eliminated my chance to get health insurance on my own. I am stuck!

So, anyone else out there have these kind of problems that may have an answer? Could it be just vaginal dryness?

Thank you!

So, after many doctor visits and was even told that it wasn't a yeast infection, I bought Monistat 7 yesterday and I am feeling a ton relief today. So, I think I had a yeast infection after all. By the way, I used Monistat 3 at the start of all these problems and I think it hurt more than it helped. Diflucan didn't help either. I am going to continue the Monistat 7 until I am finished. I am confident that it's going to clear everything up. So relieved! From now on I am using Monistat 7. :)

Do you get lubricated well during arousal? If so it may be vaginal dryness but what jumps out to me is vulvodynia. I don't know if you've heard of it but that can cause unexplained itching as well as pain during intercourse and burning. Doctors are useless when it comes to wonens problems, and gynes too in my experience. I'm sorry to hear you can't see a doctor or specialist. I'm in the uk so don't have to worry about insurance! For now, all i can suggest is keep up fluid intake, don't use soaps on your vagina...warm water will suffice. If you have sex or get the burning/itching use a cream with anaesthetic in....antiseptics may have it in them, haemaroid cream etc. Avoid tight clothing, wear cotton underpants and avoid spicy food...also avoid any bile riding, swimming, hot tubs etc. Sounds like a lot to do but try those things and see if any make a difference...I have tried a few and they help my burning/itching! Good luck!
