I find that when I am typing or lifting with my left arm it will go numb. If I hold my purse with my left arm it will go numb. I have a sway back from a accident when I was 6 years old. I am now 52. Would this back problem cause my numbness of my left arm.
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The numbness could be due to compression of spinal nerves at the spine or at shoulder or elbow. A nerve conduction study can help diagnose that. Also a MRI may be required if the compression is at spinal level. Yes, the back problem can cause numbness. Please consult a neurologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
