Numbness and tingling left face, stabbing head pain, comes and goes

I am a 28 yr old female. I have one child born 8-04. During my pregnancy, I started having numbness on the tips of my right index finger. It went away and I had no further problems. After I gave birth to my daughter, my health problems started. I had recurring high blood pressure and was put on medication. It has gotten much better and I am of the medication now. A few months after I had my daughter, I started having stabbing head pains on the left side of my head near the temple area and in the top of my head. These pains would happen maybe once a month. Now they have become more frequent. Along with that, I started having a numbing, tingling sensation on the left side of my face. Almost at the same time I experience the numbness, I have a constant drainage (feels like sinus drainage) down the back of my throat and its on the left side only.  I have even had episodes where the sharp pain in my head will happen and then my left face, left arm, left leg, and tip of left big toe will be tingly for a few days and almost numb at times.  The drainage occurs as well. I have had an MRI done w/ the contrast and the results are fine. I have been to a neurologist also. These episodes still continue to occur and it seems that they are getting worse. The sharp pains in my head are more regular and the facial tingling is more frequent. What concerns me is if the pains in my head are causing the numbness and what the drainage may be or if its related at all. The MRI showed no tumors, lesions, or signs of previous stroke? There has to be some explaination for this....

I read everything can you tell me if you have found anything eles that helped.   My 30 year old husband is having the same problems his left side of his face is numb and tingly/ with headaches.  He has no other problems other than that right now.  He had Sarcoma Bone Cance when he  was younger and had his leg amputated, but this tingly, numbness feeling of his face just started if you think you could help or have advice please let me know

Did you ever discover what your problem was?  I'm on the internet right now researching the EXACT same issue as you have.  I'm 29 - Female - Have 2 children - One was born 11 months ago.  About a week ago, I began having terrible headaches that come all of a sudden and a numbness in the left side of my face.  The numbness seems to be spreading and getting worse.  I am having a brain MRI tomorrow morning.  

It's interesting that one of your posters mention dental and that you actually mentioned sinus - because I'm also having sinus issues and pain in my jaw (at times) ... and then one of your posters mentioned yeast ... which is also interesting because I've had trouble with candida over the past year.  I'm a nursing mother and have gotten breast yeast infections and even passed it to my daughter in the way of thrush ... we have been clear on this for about 6 months now - but just wondering if it could still be in my system somewhat and contributing to my current problems.

Any ideas???

I have an underactive thyroid and have not taken my medication for two days due a pharmacy mistake on the number of pills I am prescribed. Last night I could not sleep and around 2 a.m. my face (especially my lips, nose and cheeks) experienced extreme numbness and tingling sensations which gradually spread to my arms and hands, there was also a loud, deafening "wushing" in my ears ( the sound that you hear when you listen to a seashell). It would not subside and I began to worry. After about 2 hours or so the symptoms lessened, however my face is still rather numb and tingly. Hopefully this is just due to my medication, however over the last several years every so often I experience a weird "turning" of my brain and then it "clicks", I am concerned that this may be a more serious neurological problem. Does anyone have any ideas that might help? Thank You for your input!

hi, all u need right now to start with is .... floss your teeth.. but dont over do it at all.. I had all those things when i was pregnant and after birth too ... 2nd.. u must sleep well and make sure you neck is stretched out ever day... try to involve a lot of breathing in and out... I really think all you have is stress and stress will come in all forms... pls make sure that when u floss , to take notice if you gums bleed a lot.. dont be worry about that.. you need them to bleed so it will let some pressure out !! It will be such a relief and such a blessing if this will help... and it will go away...

I am sure that you have had all of this resolved by now, but I had all of the same symptoms and it turned out that I had 2 tumors on my pituitary gland. (in my brain) Hope all is well with you.

Check out the Candida problem (with a ND)  if the symptoms persist locate a Dentist (holistic) who deals with   composite fillings/crowns.  Your problem could be related to toxicity associated with heavy metals and/or root canal therapy materials used in routine dental work.

I was wondering if they ever found out what was wrong with you. I have similar symptoms and they are running a whole bunch of tests..I had a baby 12 weeks ago..and for the past 7 weeks I had tingling feelings on my chin and neck..and pressure in my head..I thought it was sinuses and saw an ENT he started me on allergy medication.. Try Neil Med nasal cleanser, will not stop issue but will help. I hurt myself 4 years ago and had a issue at c5-c6 and middle back. I get the face tingling from behind ear and it goes down neck and face. Hated when my daughters touched my face did not hurt but felt weird.I am checking everywhere for help. Had MRI etc. and found I had 2 hemangiomas which are benign masses of blood on spine at t2 and t11 on weighted images and am convinced this is issue but doctor said MRI tech said incidentally on MRI so I should forget about it. He is not the one with back pain and I keep seeing people with mid back issues complaining about nasal and stomach issues along with the tingling. Waiting for specialist to present my findings.Good luck and dig dig dig,however unrealistic something might sound there is something causing it and very few doctors who want to take the time to explore something out of the norm when it is not something apparent from their text books. I am past the stress and have become accustomed to the pain and ready to clear my brain and find out what is causing this. Good luck I take comfort in knowing I have felt like this for several years and am still here.

This is WRONG.

Because the tests for Lyme Disease are so inaccurate, the doctor should make the diagnosis based on the patient's symptoms.
This is known as a "clinical diagnosis."

Most doctors are not familiar enough with all the symptoms of Lyme, and are unwilling to make a clinical diagnosis.

Your symptoms sound like they may be due to Lyme Disease.

Aha!  Finally, someone else who is experiencing (I think) the same things I am.  I am a 28 year old male.  I feel this tingle that starts behind an ear and spreads toward my face, sometimes onto my face, making it numb.

The only difference I can say is that my MRI shows lesions in my brain.  They told me that I may have MS, though my follow-up MRI's and a lower lumbar puncture came up clear.  Now they think I am crazy: coming up with all these symptoms.

I asked about Lyme's but was told by my doctor (I'm in Seattle) that it can be ruled out because I have not been in a high Lyme's area such as the North East.

I am also experiencing back pain and ringing in the ears, as well as a host of other symptoms.  At the moment, it is so frustrating because everyone is telling me, "it's just stress."  I have become this big nuisance in my trying to get some help.  Too long, too much, I know.

you need to have a mri on your back as well, i have similair symptoms and have felt for years that i might have ms but the dr said i do not.i get stabbing pains in my head like some one stabs me with a knife but it goes away in seconds. i have no idea why.

I have similar symptoms and have been to many doctors, had many tests, MRI, and also no diagnosis.  I had a bad experience getting my wisdom teeth removed.  I am now going to a biologic dentist for treatment of NICO cavitation and other possible reasons.  Some of the tingling in my face has been resolved.  Google NICO cavitations and do some research on this.  It's at least something worth ruling out.  If you go this route make sure you find a dentist with a lot of experience with this.  I also agree with Carol to check for lyme.  Good luck, I hope you find some answers.

Additionally, not sure if this may be related at all, but I had two impacted wisdom teeth on the lower left side but they have been removed now. The symptoms still occur though. I have also been having a toothache on the lower left side, one of the molars in the back(cavity). May not be related at all, but I don't know if the nerves may be connected in some way.
