Overheating with exercise (hypothalamus)

Hey All

Any tips on reducing the flushing from exercise.
I'll turn beet red when exercising but as soon as I finish the flush goes; only problem is I can feel my face heating up on my way home then after a warm/cool shower my face will flush for a good couple of hours after.

I've kinda got an idea of my triggers and it all seems to be internal heat related.
I will flush with any form of exercise whether its indoors or outdoors, this type of heat flush only comes on after I have finshed whatever I have been doing.
I flush straight away after spicy food or sometimes after a normal cooked meal at teatime.
Any form of stress causes me to have a flushed look but it does not feel the same as the exercise induced flush.
I have suffered from chronic stress for a couple of years and I wonder if this has had an effect on the hypothalamus, I know this controls body temp and certain hormones.

I never ever flushed before accutane, and these seem to be my only triggers since finishing the lovely poison.

Anybody have any knowledge on the hypothalamus and how this can affect a flush?

Do the anulom vilom pranayam(alternate nostril breathing) for 20 to 30 minutes, twice a day, with eyes closed.
This will send extra oxygen to the left and right brain, and help improve the function of pituitary, pineal glands and hypothalamus.
This will also cool you down ,as the left nostril is the cool (moon) channel and right nostril is the sun channel.

Excellent!! There is also a new laser procedure more gentle than IPL--also known as BBL. It is called Genesis and is so gentle that it takes several sessions.

Accutane induced rosacea is mentioned on various forums. This is quite an informative answer i came across on "The Rosacea Forum" - Rosacea from accutane?

"Accutane/isotretinoin flushing is a big red flag that the body has had enough and isn't coping with the retinoic acid... Hives often indicate a serious drug reaction. The post-Accutane period is the most unknown. Many have no backlash side effects and that's great, but for others sometimes things start going down-hill and sometimes this is when side effects decide to emerge that would traditionally emerge during treatment (e.g. joint pain, flushing, redness, rosacea, depression, chronic fatigue, Seb derm, hair loss.. even teeth breaking). I don't mean to scare you but this appears to happen too often (see acne.org). Isotretinoin was first developed as a chemotherapy agent, and to this day they don't exactly know how it really affects the body long term, hence why many are rightfully cautious about this medication.

It does sound like you have Accutane induced-Rosacea based on the flushing, redness, broken cappillaries symptoms. I and others know how frustrating this situation is having endured acne to end up with something else or more. The good news is you have found this forum and will find good information and support to help you find some relief.

Things that you could look into and consider help decrease inflammation:

* Oracea or low-dose Doxycycline (for p&ps). As you seem to have reacted to Accutane in the end stages, avoid Minocycline as it is known to cause hypersensitive reactions or drug-induced Lupus in some.
* Mepacrine or Plaquenil (Lupus meds- but recently there have been good success rate for post-Accutane flushers as long as you are not prone to Psoriasis).
* Topical Rozex or Finacea.
* Also try to stay away from foods high in Vit A- adding any further retinol to your system is likely to increase flushing, redness etc
* For dryness you might want to look into Borage oil, but stay away from Omegas as many other post-accutane flushers find it worsens things and we don't know why."

Re: IPl or laser - You could try this however it could be an idea to give oral meds a try and let your skin have a few more months time to try and recover/lessen inflammation level before pursueing this avenue. I only say this because IPL has had a backlash effect on a couple post-accutane flushers."
