Pain below my left rib cage

by Stoical, Nov 21, 2007 11:35AM
I'm a 29 year old male.  I'm not in bad shape and have been having a recurring problem for the last month or more.  Every single time I eat, doesn't matter what the food is (could be a salad, meat, or sweets) I get a pain below my left rib cage.  It's not a pain that's so bad I can't stand to do anything but it is definitely very annoying and concerning.  I thought I may have ulcers because I would frequently get heart-burn before; so have an appointment with the doctor to get that checked (I changed my eating habits a little and that seems to of helped the heart burn).  Anyway, if anyone knows anything about this pain on my left side just below my rib cage I'd appreciate your input.  I don't get it through to my back; just my front left side below the rib cage always after I eat.

Hi,  I am sorry to hear about your pain.  I took experienced sudden pain below my rib cage.  During these episodes I found that putting a heating pad directly on the pain will help ease a bit, also drinking some green tea or something that is warm (I ate runny Malto-Meal) and that seemed to help.  My doctor (internal medicine specialist) told me that I most likely was experiencing gall bladder attacks.   I also started having palipations of my heart.  I urge you to see your doctor about this condition and get ruled out a heart condition because your heart is located in the spot.  You may have an inflamation (inflammation) of the fluid around your heart.  Good luck and try some of the suggestions I have given you.  I suffered with these episodes for a long time but now they seem to have cleared up for the most part.  So have hope, okay.

I would see an Gastroenterologist to check for acid reflux or an hiatal hernia especially if you have acid in the back of your throat after eating or when you lie down
