Pain in Upper Left Arm

Hello,

I'm a 34 yo male. For the last 18 months or so I've had pain in my left bicep, tricep, my armpit,  and occasionally in my left shoulder. At its worst, it gives me a sensation like a blood pressure cuff is squeezing on it. The pain will occasionally radiate into my pectoral muscle and sternum. My physician did an MRI on my spine that came out clear and has also ruled out any heart problems. I suffer from IBS, and a CT scan was done on my abdomen that revealed nothing more than a few pockets of uninfected diverticula. I also had a nerve conduction study done and other than some mild carpal tunnel symptoms in my hand, it revealed nothing.  I currently take ibuprofen for the pain, but I don't really get much relief from it. Stress has a tendency to make the pain worse as the muscles in my arm tense up. At the time that the pain initially came on, I wasn't under much stress, and thus I don't really think the cause of the pain is stress, yet none of the tests I've had done have revealed the problem. Some days the pain is worse than others, but it hurts to some degree daily. Any ideas what it might be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If heart conditions have been ruled out completely by EKG, treadmill, ECH and stress test, then rotator cuff injury to shoulder, osteoarthritis of shoulder joint or rheumatoid arthritis should be looked into. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Also please consult a cardiologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
