It could be a number of things, have you seen your GP?
It may be glandular fever? (or is it mono in the US???) or it could be viral, it may also be an allergy.
I would, if I were you have a throat swab done and some bloods taken to check it out. It they come back ok, then perhaps some further investigation but try not to be scared.
I have swelling in my throat which I have had for a few months, my throat has not been sore but has been very red and I have had a swollen gland under my ear lobe for 2 years. The GP took a swab, I have also had lots of bloods taken. All were fine. I'm battling to get an MRI but I'm in the UK and there are waiting lists and you have to get the GP to agree first.
Do not worry. Sounds like you have the same thing I have, a viral infection, which has to go away on its own. The only thing you can do is treat it with over-the-counter medications, Tylenol or Advil for pain in throat, throat spray, saline solution for stuffed up nose, and the ears will clear up when the sinuses are finally cleared. I rinsed my ears out with warm water and a syringe. Didn't help much. I was checked out at the doctor & she said there is nothing else I can do. Viral infections can last two weeks or more and they just have to be waited out. Drink LOTS of water and get rest. It sucks, but I am going on my 5th day now and nothing has let up yet. Good luck!
