The only thing I know about the Antithrombin III test, is that AT III is an anticoagulant protein that is in our bodies. This anticoagulant keeps our blood from clotting.

Sorry... which I could be more help. You might want to consider calling the lab or hospital and ask to speak with one of the medical technologists or the pathologist. Normally... they are more than happy to speak with patients'.

Good luck !!

Your blood tests are pointing in the direction of something autoimmune. Lupus, sjogrens, ulcerative colitis are a few, but there are loads of them. What kind of symptoms are you having?

A lot of these counts are really not that far off kilter. The "normal" limits may vary ever so slightly from lab to lab so that if you had you bloodwork drawn at another lab, your counts may have fallen within the normal range. Additionally, your counts can be off if you are well hydrated or slighly dehydrated. White blood cells are the cells that fight infection. They are typically high if your body is fighting off an infection, with certain cancers, or with conditions that cause inflammation, but can be low for the same reasons. Additionally, certain medications can cause low wbc counts. The MCHC, in a round about way reflects they oxygen carrying capacity of your red cells and can be high in conditions such as anemia, hypothyroidism, in smokers, and also due to certain medications. The antinuclear antibody test is a test that is used to determine autoimmune-type conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Your ANA is positive which may give your physician a point in the right direction as far as what to look for, however, a very small percentage of the population have positive ANAs and do not have any disease. --- I don't know your entire history or symptoms, nor am I a physician. You will need to speak with him/her to interpret your labs in light of the entire clinical picture and your history.

Here are a list of abnormal results:

Under Complete Blood Cell Count
     White Blood Cell Count     4.1 L          Limits - 4.5-14.0 thou/cmm
     MCHC                            36.3 H         Limits - 30-36 %

Antithrombin III Level             135 H         Limits - 80-120%

Antinuclear Antibodies          Positive
                                           Titer  1:160

All other test results normal and they tested for antiphospholipid antibodies and Lupus.

If anyone can explain what this could mean I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.
