Polycystic ovarian syndrome

For the past few years I have had Infrequent periods, I have experienced severe pelvic pain of the right ovary, crippling pain unable to function at work and school. When I did get medical help i've been told on two separate occasions that I had an ovarian cyst and was sent home with pain killers. After doing further research I found a doctor that was sure that my symptoms of irregular periods, nausua and pelvic pain was related to Pcos.

After doing a pelvic exam he concluded that it was indeed polycystic ovarian syndrome. I was shocked to learn this because im a very healthy 5'7 135 pound 22 year old, far from over weight. He had no treatment plan for me so in return ive been dealing with this on my own. The real problem now is, that for one year
I have not had a period and then one day I have a flair (pelvic pain) for two days with the pain coming and going and then receiving my period. 2 weeks after my period I have another flair a very intense one with watery pink bleeding following each flair.

Is this normal or should I seek medical help? I only ask because I have no health insurance and can't afford to make a hospital visit unless I really need to! thank you

Yes mam I would definitely go seek another opinion. Sometimes doctors just say you have pcos because they cant find a reason for your problems. Also your only 22 years old and it could be important to find out whats going on  now incase you want children in the future. It's really not healthy for you to be going that long without a period. Maybe birth control could regulate them? I totaly agree with the others your health is worth it! I wish you the best :) Good luck!

i  can understand where your coming from with the not wanting to go to the Dr. unless its serious thing, because i have no health insurance either and can only go to Dr. if its absolutely necessary. But in my opinion ( i am not a Dr... occupation: Awakening Coach) i do think it can be serious because i have had similar problems in that area as well, and it did turn out to be serious, and besides, your health is worth it! But i think you should get a second opinion or a different Dr. because that Dr. you've seen has obviously reached his or her limit of expertise... i wish i new more info for you....good luck! and remember,... Your Health is Worth it!

It does sound like a serious problem... besides pain killers, was there anything you could do to help it? was there anymore advice. maybe do some research on what helps... but it really doesn't sound good... I would suggest seeing a doctor, however, it's really up to how important you feel this needs to be fixed, in regards to children etc. Also, just check that if it continues it won't affect other parts of your body, not that it's a cancer but how it affects your life, and normal functions
