Possible STD?

Hi,
back in August one night I had a very itchy sensation in my groin area. When I woke up I had a purplish looking rash halfway on my pubes and halfway on my penis. Of course I freaked out and searched the internet for everything to find out what it was. I went to a dermatologists a week later and she said it was a fungal infection and gave me fungal cream and cortisone cream. Well about two weeks later it went away and I thought everything was fine.

But, since then the itching sensation has lingered on and is only around my scrotum area, or inner thigh area. My penis doesn't itch at all. These symptoms have pretty much hung around since August, going away sometimes for a few hours and coming back.  (Doesn't make me itch the area, I just kind of notice it). Now I have had 1 or 2 pimple like lesions in my pubic area. Both of them had whiteheads like pimples and one of them was kind of painful and it popped like a pimple would (not sure what it was, maybe just a pimple.) They lasted about 2 days and were gone.

I would say you have a yeast infection which is easily transmitted during sex.  I gave it to my poor husband.  He took some pills the doc gave him and it cleared up.

I would say give a phone call.  You never know what doctors/offices remeber or dont remeber to do.  But if they did a culture make sure they tested for various different problems, including yeast.

well they did scrape the area for a culture, but never got back to me on it. I did receive the bill for it. Do you think a doctor would automatically call me and tell me if it was fungus or an STD? I would think if they found something bad they would call me.

I'm going to another doctor on Tuesday. He's a General Physician, and will probably just refer me to a dermatologist or something, but hopefully he can do some blood work on me to make sure i'm OK.

herpes is not transmitted through blood transfusions, it is detected in the blood though. im not sure if they automatically check for stds.i know they check for hiv.
jock medication works and the moment you get off, there it is again. you need to control the moisture.

Sounds like fungus to me as well, and "jock itch" as it's also called, can be notoriously difficult to deal with.  Call your doc and see if you can try something different.  Since you mention the presence of "pimples", that also indicates a secondary bacterial infection that you may need antibiotics for.  You've got to be just miserable!

A male friend of mine had a horrible case of it when he worked outside in the summer.  The only thing that worked for him was the old-time remedy of patting himself down with old-fashioned laundry starch - the powdered kind that comes in a box.  Use it just like baby powder.

Well i'm not sure if it is that or not since the anti fungal medication didn't work so well.

I have a question though. I gave blood about a few months ago (before i started having symptoms but after my last sexual encounter), and didn't know about any of this at the time. Everything has cleared, and they called me to come in and donate blood again. Do you think that if I did have herpes, or something to that extent, they would have caught that and rejected my blood? Do they even let people with herpes donate blood?

it does sound more like a fungus, fungus flourishes in moist, warm surfaces.  adter you bathe, im sure you towel dry, sometimes living a little moisture downstairs, as more and more moisture accumulates, so does fungus. try airdrying, maybe even with a blowdryer, low heat ofcourse, you dont wat your pubes to synge more.lol.

CONTINUED

The other symptoms I have had are kind of concerning though. Sometimes I will have for a week straight, weak feeling muscles, lightheadedness, nausea, and some fatigue. Now these symptoms are all pretty tame, but I do notice them and they are out of the ordinary.  I saw the nurse at work and she thought it was just stress or a stomach virus, but i did not tell her about the itching I had downstairs (just a little embarrassed). So, I'm not sure if what I have in my genital region is causing this, or if the other symptoms are just stress related. The symptoms first started about 4 months after my last sexual encounter. Does anything jump at you when I list my symptoms like this? Herpes? Molluscum? Anxiety disorder? etc.
I appreciate any comments/suggestions. Thanks.
