The symptoms are clearly connected to you taking the prednisone and the side effects are clearly documented in the medication leaflet.

It would be unwise for you to "mess around" with this medication.    There are different types of medications for asthma that the doctor can prescribe that will suit you better.   Make an appointment to see your doctor and let him know of what you have been experiencing.

Doing breathing exercises, especially deep breathing can help to exercise your lungs if you have asthma.  If you get severe asthma attacks never be without your inhaler.  Salbutamol (may come under different brand names too) is a fast acting inhaler when you experience an attack.  There are other types of inhalers to help reduce the inflammation in the air ways and these are used regularly on a long term basis.

Certain atmospheric conditions can trigger off asthma attacks as well as any stressful situations and when you become anxious.  Learning breathing techniques and relaxation and coping strategies when in a stressful situation, will help you to deal with breathing problems.  Keep away from smoking atmospheres and wrap your mouth and nose with a scarf when it is cold so that you do not breathe in the cold air.
I find that the cold and coming in from the cold into a warm house can also trigger off asthmatic problems.

Asthma attacks can be triggered of by any type of allergen.  And you may consider keeping a written record when you get attacks to see if there is an allergic reaction to something you have come in contact with.  Having pets in the house or sleeping on a feather pillow, for example can trigger of some people's asthma.

Great that the "neti pot" is working for you.  Steam inhalations with some Vick, Olbas oil or menthol oils of your choice will also help to clear blocked sinuses and Eustachian tubes.

I mean I am going to stop taking the prednisone until the pain stops and take it again if the pain comes back its got to be the culprit!

Yea I used some of your advice and they have helped i felt alot better getting my vitamin d up around 80. I just find it odd that I think back and I was put on prednisone before and my pain started shortly after. Then they have me more this yr actually yesterday and I took it and became a little hyper and then I started having the exact pain I had last ur when I started with all of this coincidence? I am not sure i am going to stop and see if the pain subsides and see what happens. The asthma is a new thing for me or is it when I was having trouble with the anxiety last yr and the trouble breathing actually asthma at the time and I thought my anxiety was getting worse. As far as the pain I find it wierd to go the last 6 months with little pain and then I take that med and bam like a truck hit me! Always good to hear your input I will look up the sinus stuff you suggested I've been doing pretty good with a neti pot!

Hey Hartg, remember me? I responded to your question a while back at the A/I community.
So now asthma? Is this a new condition for you?
If it is, anxiety and stress may play a significant a role in this.

Were you prescribed prednisone as a rescue remedy?

There'a huge list of side effects-the worse being  in long term use,
its immunosuppresive action.
I'm just surprised that you already had these effects from prednisone,
if this is the case indeed.
It would be difficult to establish the connection though, specially if you might be having some other unresolved health issues from before.
How did you make out after I replied to you?
Did you follow up on any of my suggestions?

At any rate, I hope you're doing better.

Oh one more thing, look into the Buteyko Breathing technique online which
helps reduce the need and dependency on drugs in asthma (it also helps with many other conditions). I've taken the course and might go for the
Instuctors course next year. I was really impressed with the results.
My sinus issues have almost diminished completely using the Buteyko technique and MSM powder.
Also the Normal Breathing website has some great info on this subject.

Take care.

I suggest you make an urgent appointment to see your doctor or phone up the surgery to speak with the doctor for advice.

The symptoms you describe are highly likely to be side effects from the prednisone.

If you do not have any information leaflet with the medication, you can find information with regard to side effects on the web.  There is also information with regard to contacting your doctor, pharmacist and reporting side effects to the FDA if you live in the US.

As I am not a doctor so I cannot give you advice with regard using this medication, only that before you take any more of this medication you seek urgent advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
