Purple bumps on Legs, Diarrhea, Sideroblastic Anemia

For the past 7 years, I have been to the Scripps Clinic, Massachusetts General and Johns-Hopkins yet no one has been able to help me find out what is going on.  

It all began with what the doctors thought was a staph infection in my ear. Over the next year, the "staph" moved into my eyes and nose.  My skin was noticeably irrated and peeling.  After 2 years, I developed chronic diarrhea which I've now suffered with for 4 years.  After 3 years I developed dark purple bumps (tiny dot-like bumps) all over the skin on my legs, which itch like crazy.  After 4 years, my doctors found that I have sideroblastic anemia, which requires blood transfusions every two weeks.  I have gone from 135 pounds down to 97 pounds in years and need help!

The doctors I have seen thus far are trying to treat each symptom separately, yet I believe that all of these symptoms may be caused by ONE problem.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Have they tried testing you for Celiac Sprue? This is an intolerance to the gluten found in wheat, oats, barly and rye.

Often it is missed dianogised because it has soo many various syptoms (symptoms). They can inclulde, diarrea (diarrhea), and/or constipation, gas, nausea and skin eruputions, it seems that everyone has a difficult time getting diagnoised. The only really true test is to see the intestines from the upper GI.

Once you are totally gluten free, you feel so much better that it is not difficult to stop eating these grains. The stores carry a lot more "gluten free products"
