Racing Heart?

Yesterday, my heart was racing abnormally. I had a dry mouth and my arms and legs were shaking, I had irregular breathing, and I could feel every single heart beat in my chest; even the skipped beats. I also felt a little nauseous. At first I thought I was just a bit happy to talk to a person I hadn't talked to in a few days, online, but it didn't stop like how it usually is when someone's nervous. This wore on until I fell asleep (this started from around 2 to 4 AM), about an hour after we stopped talking. Then I woke up in a sweat today (even though it's not that hot). Is it just adrenaline or is there something wrong with my heart?

Additional information: I'm a young teen with no previous health problems (nothing serious). I'm not overweight, and this is the first time I've ever felt anything like this.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you are young and with no serious problem, then this could either be due to low blood sugar or hypoglycemia—if you had not eaten for long or it could be due to taking too much coffee. Acidity could be the other cause. Also if you had not slept in the last 24 hours, then this could even be due to sleep fatigue.
Other than this there are many medical causes of feeling your heart race or palpitations. Palpitations may be normally felt if you are overexerted. Chemicals like adrenaline, alcohol, caffeine, cocaine, amphetamines, and other drugs all cause palpitations. Disease (such as hyperthyroidism and pheochromocytoma) or mitral stenosis, panic disorder all cause this. Palpitations may be associated with heart problems, anemias, low blood sugar and low blood pressure. If you have cough and are taking medicines that contain asthalin or terbutaline then the palpitations can be a side effect of the drugs.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral if need be.
Take care!

Are you taking any meds as sometimes they can have side effects ,I agree a check up would be good and set your mind at rest, do you suffer from anxiety or panic ?

Oops posted before I was done. It could be absolutely nothing but being excited about that person to something more serious. Nobody can diagnose you on thte interwebs. A stethoscope will not reach that far and way to big!

Life is important so better safe than sorry.
