Random muscle jerking. Now effecting my speech

I've had this weird issue with involuntary movements of my hands arms and then my mouth. It's become more frequent and it's honestly embarrassing. I will be talking and then I'll have a weird tic where or muscle jerking and it interups my speech. It's becoming more frequent and more strong. It happens more often when I'm tired.
I also must add I've been on antipsychotics for around 15 years. I was convinced it was because of that but after much research I'm not so sure anymore. This is effecting my life. It's extremely embarrassing to interact with people with this tic happening while I'm conversing. My bfs says it's noticable and they lip and jaw twitch. I also have started studdering alot and then the twitch happens not long after I start studdering.

Hello~I am sorry you are having these issues.

Are your arms and hands weak? Do you have strength in them to lift or hold things like you could before this happened? Have you seen a doctor for this? I don't like to be an alarmist, but it wouldn't hurt to see your GP and tell him about it, he might want to do some tests to rule out Parkinson's, but with it, you usually are weak in the areas that are twitching. For peace of mind, I would ask.

Also, the twitching could be due to low calcium and magnesium, try taking a high-potency mult-mineral supplement along with an electrolyte supplement. Any good health store will carry these.

Last, but certainly not least, try see a chiropractor, you could have some pinched nerves in your neck and upper back, if that is the case, this, too, can cause muscle twitching.

I hope it stops soon, I know how annoying even a small twitch of the eye can be, I am sure you are most uncomfortable.

Thank you for your response. My strength is no different than before. My hand and arms can pick up, carry, hold as much weight as I've always been able to. I have not seen the doctor. My doctor is very bad. She refused to do a full blood panel on me, she had refused to give me anything for my exzema told me to just but some lotion. When she did a hormonal blood test because two year after having a child and never breast feeding my breasts were and still are producing milk. When I got that done she never explained the results. I made two appointments after and was seen by a nurse not her. When asking her about my results she said the doctor will have to explain it. Yet apparently she was to busy to see me and I was sent home. My mom's husband saw her as well and went in cause he was feeling short of breath and said his heart felt abnormal. Even when his blood pressure was high that day she sent him home and told him to take some aspirin. Three days later on his drive to work he had a heart attack. He had to have his arteries unblocked in surgery.
I don't go to her anymore. I'm on Medicaid so she is listed as my primary care. But I get better care from a Dr at a minor care clinic and my gyno than her. Could I go to her with this issue or the Dr at the clinic?
I will see if my Medicaid covers a chiropractor. I never thought of that. I went out yesterday and bought potassium and magnesium after googling around. So I'll take those now and see if I notice a difference.
In the past I've had such low potassium and calcium that I've had to be ived it asap. That was years ago I do not remember what symptoms I had from it. I figured my calcium would be fine because I do eat alot of dairy products and drink milk probably more than I should.
I haven't been upset by my hand and arm twitching. But my mouth doing it when I'm talking to someone is highly embarrassing for me and the more tired I am the worse it becomes. And I don't have much energy anyways...I asked my bfs if he's noticed and he said yes he has. Which is embarrassing because it happens around other people too.
Oh my goodness, I don't blame you for not wanting to return to the doctor you have been seeing. I would think that your gyn or clinic would be fine to take these issues to.

In many states, medicaid does pay for chiropractors, I know they did in the state I use to live in, Washington State.

Quite possibly taking the potassium and calcium will help calm down the twitches as well.

You said you noticed them more when tired, well, I do know that when tired these can be more prevalent not getting enough rest or sleep.
I will make a appointment with my gyno and tell her about it. The doctor at the clinic I go to is also very good so I will go there as well.
