Rash, Headache, Knee joint pain, fatigue

by Cheryl921, May 19, 2009 06:42PM
I have devloped a rash on my arms, chest, shoulders, back, and legs.  My doctor did bloodwork which was negative and has now done a biopsy (results not back yet).  The rash is nasty looking and I can't keep my hands from scratching it.  I've had the rash about two weeks and the headache came on a week later and now this week I have diareaha, nausea. and my knees hurt.  What in the world is going on?  Help

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
This looks like urticaria or hives. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since you experienced an itch, just go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike you. In many cases, hives clear up themselves and don’t require diagnosis or treatment. However if they persists you may need to see a specialist called an allergist to determine what is causing the reaction.
The rash could be viral in nature as you also have headache, diarrhea and nausea. It could also be two unrelated symptoms. It could be something you ate like seafood etc.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
