Right Sided Pain

by orangeblossoms, Oct 01, 2009 11:41AM
For the past 3 months I've been having some health issues. It started off as thinking it was my Gall Bladder but that's been ruled out. Anyhow, throughout all of this I've had pain on the right side that's gradually gotten worse and has expanded, more so this week.

When the pain in my URQ first started I also had right shoulder blade pain. This pain has now evolved and become right shoulder blade pain, right neck pain and right collar bone area pain. My doctors seem to dismiss this. I would love to dismiss it as well but it's quite frightening and the fact that the pain is getting worse and spreading makes me really worried. I've had many tests done, as well as scans, and the only thing that's been found is Gastritis. Gastritis doesn't cause shoulder blade, collar bone and neck pain. Problems with my gall bladder, pancreas, kidneys and stomach (besides Gastritis) have all been ruled out. I do have fatty deposits on my liver but my doctor said this wouldn't be causing the pain I'm having.

Any idea of what my problem could be? I'm just really concerned and tired of feeling this way. I just don't know what to do anymore.   :(

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Gastritis along with duodenal ulcer can cause pain in upper right quadrant that is referred to shoulder tip and collar bone. Also a mildly leaking localized duodenal ulcer can cause these symptoms. Please try a combination of acid reducing drugs as advised by your doctor and life style changes. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
All other conditions have been eliminated. Another possibility is a small sub diaphragmatic abscess.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
