Ruled out

My friend starting having horrible vomiting and diarreah (diarrhea) after eating three tomatoes gotten from Sam's Wholesale Club. Her husband took her to emergency when it really got bad and they admitted her to Baylor Hospital. They ran tests and said the tests do now show food poisoning of any kind. She is going on her 6th day and is still having nausea (she is on anti-nausea drugs) and horrible diarrhea. She has lost 9 lbs. in 6 days.

Should the doctor do the Salmonella test again? Does it not show up sometimes on the first round? Are there other things it could be? They ruled out liver, pancreas and she has no gall-bladder.

Do you have a clue?

Test/ retest for e coli, cryptosporidium, parasites, fecal coliform, and hepatitis...And retest for salmonella again...Usually food poisoning will run it's course within a week, but if she now has gastritis or enteritis as well, she may be ill for a while...Keeping her hydrated and watching for bloody diarrhea is very important right now...Good luck..Hopefully, she feels better soon...                                    ~MM
