Sensitive to metal??

My sister recently passed away suddenly, at the age of 29. The death certificate said the cause of death was "toxic myocardits."  The doctors kept telling us her heart was severely damaged from a viral infection though. So wouldn't it be viral myocarditis? A few weeks before she had any symptoms of illness, she said even the thought of metal would make her feel sick. Eating with metal utensils, touching or looking at anything metal made her feel sick. Has anyone heard of this or know what it means?? I should probably also add that ever since she was about 4 or 5 years old she's had rheumatoid arthritis. The doctors said that didn't matter but I think they're wrong. I know nothing will bring her back but I'd still like an explanation.
