Severe Jerking and Spasms in legs along with several other symptoms

Symptoms:
I am 28 and very active. In 2006 I began to get dizzy, severe headaches, lightheadedness, and general malaise. In 2008 my arms began to go numb. In 2009 I fatique started in. 2010 severe abdominal pain effecting all quadrants began. 2011 I began having muscle spasms, and jerking in the limbs and jaw. According to the doctors, I have Knee Clonus, hyperflexia, and Hoffman's sign.

Findings:
All symptoms will last for months at a time, and then ease up and then continue. I have seen several physicians including a Neurologist, Ob/GYN, GI, and a Rheumatologist. This is what they have found. I have endometriosis, fibromyalgia, IBS, and severl upper GI problems in which are not significant. I have been told that the fibromyalgia is not causing the muscle spasms/jerking or the abdominal pain.

Effect on me:
I have to rely on a walker many days. Sometimes I am unable to walk to the bathroom by myself. The spasms get so severe I end up on the tips of my toes. I have had to withdraw from school, take leave from work, and my husband has been caring for my children.  I am being sent to Vanderbilt and any suggestions I can give them would be of tremendous help. What could be causing this?

Tests:
MRI of brain and and all sections of spine
CT of abdomen
Hydascan
Ultrasound
Spinal Tap
Several Blood test

Thank you for your reply. I have started cutting back on my caffeine and will mention the patathyroidgland function test to my physicians as that is the only one that has not been tested yet. Thank you again for your time.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I see you have undergone several blood tests. I would suggest you get the blood levels of the following checked if they have not already been checked: potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D. Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle twitching and spasms in localized or generalized areas of the body. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Hence if you take alcohol or coffee then cut this down. Sleep at regular hours and see if it helps. Certain sleep disorders and peripheral nerve disorders due to diabetes or Lyme's or hypothyroidism can also be the cause.
Do discuss this with your doctor.. Take care!

We have definately looked into that factor. We have changed my medications around, but it has not helped. This is what I am taking...

Celexa 20 mg 1x at night
Bentyl 20 mg 1x
Pepcid 20 mg x2
Phenergan 25mg as needed
Skelaxin 800mg 1/2 x3 as needed (I just filled a different muscle relaxer that is not as strong. With fatigue I am having a hard time finding one that will not put me to sleep.)
Lyrica 50mg x1 (I have not taken that for long. I did a trial and it helped, but very expensive).

Thank you for your reply. Your input is greatly appreciated.

What medications are you on? Hyperreflexia can I think be caused by too much seratonin in the body.  Sometimes medication react with each other . Speak to your Doctors about ALL the medication you are taking. I hope that helps you, I wish you well.
