Severe pain in my neck and down in my left chest wall when I lay down

This started Sunday evening. It started with really bad pain in my left chest wall. I have been recently diagnosed with cervical Spondylosis with myelopathy. My spinal cord is being compressed in two areas C3-C4 and C5-C6. The pain is mainly when I lay down at night. It hurts to take deep breathes our yawn. Can this be related to my condition or is it coming from my thoracic spine?

Glad to know that you have had problems with your heard and lungs ruled out and that the medication is easing off the pains in your neck area.

No doubt the MRI will show the extent of deterioration in the thoracic area and what can be done.  I have a lot of deterioration in my thoracic area with osteophytes and I must admit that it does hurt more when trying to lie down and when reaching for something.

Best wishes.

I saw my PCP in urgent care and heart/lung problems were ruled out. I have no heart problems and my lungs are fine. I have flattening of spinal cord in 2 areas, C3-C4 and C5-C6. The orthopedic surgeon called in as a second surgical opinion in my case by my neurosurgeon, called in Medrol Dose pack for me and after taking the initial dose of the 6 pills, the pain stopped. This will be day 4 of the treatment. I also have to have a thoracic MRI asap so he can see if my thoracic spine is involved.

Having a cervical problem would not give you pain when you breathe.

Although your symptoms of pain when lying down and breathing may be due to problems in the thoracic area of your spine, you should make an appointment to see your doctor to listen to your lungs to rule out any lung issues.  If the thoracic area of your spine has not been examined by imaging (xrays, MRI or whatever) it may be a good idea to get these done to see what is gong on in that part of your spine.  Your doctor will advise you on that.

You do not say if you have any cough.

Unfortunately, I had no benefit from chiropractor sessions, despite the deep massages and thrusting my spine and neck into alignment.  The chiropractor was surprised as  most people feel some benefit after 3 sessions, I had 6.  I the relaxation and massage.

I would definitely see a Chiropractor, everything you mentioned would be helped by a good one, make sure that they do disc-decompression as well.
