Sharp Shoulder Pain

I have for the past 10 years had a sharp intermittent pain which runs from the base of my next to my right shoulder blade, it normally occurs if I have been sat down for a long time at work (so pretty much everyday).  It feels tight around the area when this occurs and when I move my shoulder I can feel the grinding of the movement. It became worse when I fell heavily on my arm taking all my weight and lately after lifting heavy items at work it constantly feels tight and my movement of my arm, although good cannot get into certain angles as my left arm.

I went to see a Physiotherapist who gave me exercises to do a few years ago, but as this didnt work he gave up on me, thus I thought I would be stuck with it, so have just lived with it.

Does anyone have the same problem, or have any ideas what might be done to work out the problem?

Thanks Kindly

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A grinding pain in the shoulder can be due to osteoarthritis, arthritis, rotator cuff injury too. An X-ray of shoulder will be required along with an MRI probably. The pain can also be a referred pain from gall bladder, liver or duodenum but less likely as it becomes worse on lifting weight.
You would need to consult an orthopedic specialist and the treatment will involve medicines, physiotherapy and maybe surgery if need be.
Hope this helps. Take care!
