Shoulder weakness/reflex No pain

by byegonebooks, Jun 10, 2006 12:00AM
Not sure what is going on. The joint where i hang a shoulder purse or where my bra strap sits gets a bit sore by 6pm. But what concerns me is that if I pick my arm up a certain way, it just drops down something like a reflex action. This has never happened when my arm is raised over my head. There is no pain when this happens. Any ideas? Thanks

If you feel along the shoulder toward the neck, you will find an indention somewhat to the front side of the shoulder.  In this indention, a bundle of nerves rest.  If the shoulder strap of the purse rests here while you are carrying it, you are conpressing this nerve bundle.  The more weight in the purse, the more the nerves compress.  This may be the cause of your problems.  Try either using the other shoulder so the nerve can heal, or use a purse that doesn't rest on the shoulder, like a fannypack.  good luck
