I was diagnosed with Sick Sinus Syndrome Oct 24, 2014 while in observation at the hospital after walking in to be seen due to feeling like hell for 4 weeks, those 4 weeks my clinic on Bainbridge Island did not diagnose what the problem was so I took it upon myself to walk in to the emergency room.
What irritates me is I had to wait almost a month with this condition and I am wondering if the long wait for a diagnosis resulting in a pacemaker is why my heart is bothering me so much. When I say it is bothering me I mean when I get up from a resting position and sit down a minute or even a few seconds later my heart pounds hard, that was never the case pre diagnosis. I am not sure if I simply need to be accustom to feeling my heart beat so hard for the remainder of my life or if there is something wrong which may be able to be fixed easily with a tweak of the pacemaker, however nobody has been able to fix that issue yet.
A healthy heart simply beats and most people are unaware of it, I am constantly feeling it and would really like to be assured nothing is wrong, if that is the case I can live with it. If there is an issue which will place me at risk for a heart attack I would certainly like to know if that is the case.
I started walking at a brisk pace 40 minutes 5 days a week about 3 months ago, should have started sooner but did not, maybe that has something to do with my hearts condition, I have no clue.
Anyone with information regarding what I described or similar experiences I would welcome hearing from you.
