Sick

My husband has been battling some unknown illness for months now. Initially we thought that his symptoms were dengue related. He has experienced a strange overwhelming feeling in his stomach and extreme weakness...from there it went to water on his lungs..then swollen feet...weight loss...now feeling extremely cold. We live on an island. It's extremely hot all year round. The medical situation here is not the best. They've taken test but no one is capable of reading them accurately. He has been seeing his cardiologist as a precaution but his heart isn't the issue. Any suggestions? What type of test should we request? What type of Doctor should we take him to? HELP!.

Thank you guys for the help. This past weekend, we were able to see a specialist and an endoscopy was done. We are awaiting the pathology report. Now, we have a clear idea as to what the problem might be.

He needs lab blood tests.  These symptoms are not very specific, unfortunately.  A general practitioner or doctor of internal medicine would be good.

I've had Dengue Fever from a deployment to Haiti years ago.  Although you describe a couple of the symptoms, you didn't include the major symptoms that people with Dengue usually experience.  Having said that... I'm no doctor but I can tell you that I had comrades that contracted Malaria and their symptoms are/were related to those that you have described.  Get to a REAL doctor soon... Good Luck!

When you go to a doctor and you are not sure about your problem, you first go to a General Practitioner. A General Practitioner is a type of doctor who can help you decide what type of SPECIALIST to see.
