Skin problems

I am a 22 year old girl. I am fair  and have smooth skin but my skin is not clear. I tend to have pimples and boils on my face. The boils appear on my forehead and cheeks. They are not painful or itchy but simple swellings and they come in clusters. Few days back i massaged my face with olive oil but i got rashes on my face> how do i treat it. My otherwise health is good but overweight. What do i do to clear my skin because these problems recur regularly. Mine is a normal skin.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
With olive oil you could have developed contact dermatitis. This will respond to calamine lotion, cool compress, anti-allergic cream and tablets.
Other than that you could be having acne rosacea. It causes redness and pimples on the face around nose, forehead, cheekbones, and chin. The pimples of rosacea look a lot like acne but do not have blackheads. The main reason they increase is because of increased blood flow as in blushing. Hence heat of any kind, exposure to sun, hot drinks, spicy food, menopause, anger and emotional stress, high blood pressure, cough, drugs that increase blood flow like blood vessel dilators, and fever can also increase the symptoms.
Similarly food that increase histamine (a chemical that can cause flushing) release [like spinach, beans, citrus fruits, tomatoes, bananas, eggplant, raisins, figs, avocados, red plums, vinegar, yogurt, sour cream, soy sauce, yeast extract, chocolate, vanilla, and liver] cause the worsening of symptoms. There are several treatments available to control and keep the symptoms in check like antihistamines. Other than that it can also be acne vulgaris. Actually there are many treatment options for acne. However before you opt for them, get the adrenal gland function assessed to see whether there is a hormonal cause for this. See if there is any linkage to high salt, chocolate and oil primarily. If there is, then cutting down intake of these will help. Antibiotics, retenoids, benzyl peroxide, hormones, anti-inflammatory drugs etc all help and a skin specialist will be able to guide you better. Meanwhile keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap at least twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the bumps.
Please consult a skin specialist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Olive oil on your face?  PLEASE DON'T DO THAT.

I would recommend consulting a Dermatologist to assess your skin so you can get proper treatment.

You can also post in the Dermatology Forum as well.

Meanwhile, try to find a face cleanser that is 100% soap-free to wash with and only wash twice a day with your hands (no washcloth) and blot dry with a clean towel.

I have suffered with acne since the 5th grade, if you used an oil and got rashes you need to see a doctor to get something to treat your reaction to the
olive oil. Have you tried acne fighting products ? I recommend the Clean and Clear newest 3step acne cleanser. Or if OTC medication hasn't worked for you, visit a Dermatologist to see your options about medications and creams to help fight the out breaks and the boils.

It is probably hormonal. The swellings and acne you are describing are in your T-zone, a very common place for these kinds of skin conditions. If this is a chronic condition, your best bet is to see a dermatologist.
