Hi,
How are you?
It is very possible that you are suffering from postural hypotension. Postural hypotension occurs due to sudden fall in BP after standing from a lying down position. The symptoms are light headedness and dizziness.
Please make sure that you raise your legs above the level of heart when lying down. Also compression stockings help.
Itchiness could be due to a seasonal allergy or dry skin. Stomach pains when lying down could be due to GERD. Please make sure you eat dinner at least 2 hrs before bedtime. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Take care!
Thank you both for your comments. I only suffer sleep loss a couple nights a week and I think it has to do a lot with the fact that my mom past away about 6 months ago but the itching and twitching i wasnt sure how could come from stress.
Hello Carrie,
Im by no means an expert on sleeping but from what ive learnt recently there are quite a few methods you can integrate into your life to give yourself much more chance of sleeping deeply and in a fixed pattern. Im not sure about the twitching but it seems like kindd has covered that well in the description.
I will post all the details tomorrow as there is a lot of small details to include, do you suffer with sleep loss every night or a few times a week? and do you get much exercise with walking and so on during the day?
Hello Carrie,
You seem to be having hypnagogic myoclonus twitches.
Twitches while falling asleep are called hypnagogic myoclonus, myoclonus being any sort of involuntary muscle spasm and hypnagogic referring to sleep. It's not known exactly what causes the twitches, but they appear to be associated with anxiety and faint stimulus like noise.Hypnagogic myoclonus is associated with body itching called punctate pruritus (spot itching not triggered by any obvious skin disease or other cause).
Hypnagogic myoclonus (also called sleep starts) is very normal and happens to just about everyone. According to the University of Marburg in Germany, reports of sleep starts are in the 60 to 70 percent range of sleepers (which means everyone) and they're often forgotten. So pls don’t worry as nothing seems to be wrong with you.
Try avoiding day time naps and pls don’t take any caffeine before bedtime. Try to sleep in a room where there is little noise and pls don’t feel stressful and anxious regarding every day’s worries just before bedtime. You can try meditation for stress and if the condition does not improve then you can take some mild sedatives.
Take care and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
