I know this is an older post, but i was just reading a website, benfotiamine dot org. This is something everyone should check out, for numbness, pain, or neuropathy of any kind. Read through the testimonials!
I'm getting Benfotiamine for my mom now, for numbness in her legs. She's taking Lyrica, but maybe this can get her off of that. She's had the numbness for two years. I'll post the results, assuming she will use the Benfotiamine. This stuff sounds like a miracle!
I have the same problem...since i got a virus, but dont know what virus it was. I started feeling tingling, weakness, and it's almost like my digestion has stopped. My blood pressure is up and down etc. I never heard of this until reading this post.
My 9 yr old daughter is the same. She can barely walk for the pain in her feet, her hands are getting worse as well. We have much more testing to go through but the neurologist said she has this neuropathy and autonomic dysfunction. She's been started on gabapentin but it's not helping yet. But we aren't at full dosage yet.
See a good neurologist and keep us posted.
Praying for you.
My son has small fiber neuropathy, on his midsection(entire stomach, abdomin area) and upper left arm. The autonomic nerves control your sweat functions, if the nerves are damaged, you won't sweat there. My son had a thermoregulartory sweat test and that is how they determined he had small fiber neuropathy-where ever he didn't sweat was damaged.
My son also has POTS(or dysautonomia). The other symptoms you listed are also listed for dysautonomia. This is where the autonomic nervous system is not working correctly. The autonomic nerves run everything involuntary in the body (ie-heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, body temp, sweating, etc). Go to dinet.org for more info on dysautonomia.
And yes, dysautonomia frequently occurs after someone has been sick, like with mono, etc. You need to see a neurologist who is educated about the autonomic nervous system. It is not uncommon for doctors to blame it all on anxiety or depression, many doctors aren't up on it.
