Small red blood cell size without Anemia

by heatherandjosie, May 08, 2006 12:00AM
Is small red blood cell size indicative of anything other than Anemia?  Our doctor says my daughter is not Anemic, but blood test reveal abnormally small sized red blood cells.

I also have this condition. But so far no doctor has given any exact reason, I did have on doctor say that it was usually indigenous to Mediterranean people.

This conditon is called Thalasemia a disorder found mainly in people who live in the mediterranean, northern Africa and Asian countries. I was diagnosised over 15 years ago and now it has raised questions with my health. ***@****

I was just diagnosed with a Viatmin B-12 deficiency... Non-anemic with very small red blood cells. The B-12 deficiency is causing my blood cells to be so small.

I am now taking monthly B-12 injections along with a daily B Complex orally.
