Something next to tongue

Ok here goes, i have been having a coming and going feeling of something stuck next to my tongue, (see attached picture) it is right around this area and i cannot for the life of me find anything online pertaining to this spot.  But, anyways, i found this spot to be where my discomfort is coming from after much poking and prodding.  Im sort of a hypochondriac when it comes to this stuff.  But i finally noticed a small sort of white but more yellowish spot.  I scraped it with my fingernail a few times and then it bled a little.  But the next day it seemed to be slightly bigger, (im guessing because i messed with it).  My lymph nodes dont seem to be any different as far as i can notice.  All of this is on the left side by the way.  I was looking up peritonsillar abcesses and such but i havent a clue if thats what it could be or not.  I will be trying to get an appt with my ENT sometime this week to have it looked at.

I havent noticed any more tiredness, no weightloss at all, slight trouble swallowing because i have been poking it and prodding that area.
Any ideas on what it could be? im hoping just some sort of infection but i guess i wont know for sure till its looked at.

Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated! Im male 23 and have a history of smoking and dipping.  But since this has happened ive not used anything since.

I get these things all the time on the side of my tongue!  I never mess with them coz they do bleed profusely!  Just leave it alone and in a couple of days it will go away :)

There are a number of benign nodules that can form on the tongue. A white patch can be thrush (a fungus infection) or leukoplakia - a precancerous type of tissue change that can be caused by your tobacco use. Don't panic about this - it is unlikely to be a cancer, but get it checked out.

See your dentist.  Hopefully it's just precancer from the tobacco.  Don't use it anymore.  Decrease sugar and try drinking mint tea.
