Sore Throat, Swollen gland etc.

A couple of weeks ago I started having a sore throat and inflammed taste buds.  The sore throat felt localized and almost felt more like there may be sores down my throat as opposed to an "overall" sore throat. The soreness came and went away, but would return when I ate food that was bad for sore throats.  The taste bud problem completely went away.  My neck was pretty sore around the beginning of the sore throat.  Two weeks ago or so ago I started having a cough with white mucous.  Two days ago, the very back of my gums (right behind my last molar) (almost my throat) swelled up as well as a the lymph node directly under it on the same side.  My throat hurts on that same side too.  This is causing some tooth sensitivity.

Any thoughts?  

NOTE: I have alot of allergies, but have never actually been allergy tested.  I have my tonsils and adnoids removed many years ago.  Have a deviated septum.  I do get cold sores from time to time (have for most of my life).  I am not currently taking allergy medications because it makes me feel horrible.  I do take a diuretic for Meniere's Disease.  I also take birth control.
