Sternum Pain

by marauder, Dec 03, 2007 10:42AM
Yesterday afternoon my sternum began to hurt, and has continued through today. It hurts when I breath deeply, belch, or when I am in certain positions. In particular, it hurts when I pinch my shoulder blades together. It feels like my sternum was injured, like a strained muscle feels. The pain feels almost beneath the sternum.

I didn't do anything physically stenuous lately, and did not fall, or otherwise injur myself. Is this serious, any ideas? I appreciate anyone's help and advice.

25 years old, male, non-smoker, normal weight.
