Stitches from 10 years ago?

About 10 years ago I had an operation now I get crazy pain in the leg around the area's where it was opened and I can see the stitches in 2 of the scars which tells me there in all 3 but the third is in muscle I'm 21 so has been a while at the time was told there all dissolvable but clearly not can these stitches be the cause of the pain? It makes it hard for me to walk as it prangs all the time especially going up and down the stairs I used to be active and never had problems till a few months ago now it's constant.

Cheers I'm having an operation soon but not for the stitches as they seem to be getting disregarded all the time instead they are going to remove a Nancy nail which as they said may not even help but if so the nail is only in contact with one area of irritation don't get me wrong I'm grateful but I'm sure removing the stitches would have been a simpler solution to try first as the pain seems to radiate from those areas, the last guy even said to me 'try riding a bike to build the muscle' but as it was I was doing labourous work for years before... best bit was he didn't even look at my leg once other than on an MRI scan kinda felt like I was being pushed out the door you know?

Cheers for your time

Dissolvable stitches don't always dissolve. I actually pulled a short stitch out quite some time after surgery, it had been under the skin but broke through! Call your Dr or the surgeon.

You need them removed! They aren't dissolving or you have had a reaction to them. Go to a doctor explain the situation until one will refer you to a surgeon who will remove them and clear that area up. There is meant to be some pain in that area but not like this and not for this long.
