I will start off by saying I have been ill for around five months now starting around the middle of November with no diagnosis. I am a 24 year old male who is pretty health conscious. I don't eat fast food, I try my best to eat healthy, and exercise around 4 days a week (lifting weights, playing baseball, skating). I apologize in advanced for the massive wall of text.
The very first symptom I noticed was a rash on my face. The rash is red and dry, on my nose and a portion of my cheeks. At first I assumed it as because I switched face washes but since I still have the rash obviously not..
Maybe 3 days later I developed a very bad cold. Runny nose, sore throat, constipation/diarrhea accompanied with a terrible cough and phlegm. Also my lower back hurt very bad especially when I coughed. This went on for about a week before I decided to go to the doctor. I went to the immediate care because I didn't feel like scheduling an appointment with my doctor. They said I had acute sinusitis and gave me two shots in my rear, one a steroid and the other an antibiotic. I then received the course in pill form. I started to feel better within the next two days.
I then went to go visit my sister in Alabama, having some time off from school. While there I started to not feel well again only this time gaining some new symptoms. I started to have difficulty breathing, not being able to take a full breath with my cough coming back. I also started to get chest pains and what felt like heart pain. At this point I started to get pretty concerned. My sister took me to the doctor where I then had an ekg, chest x-ray, and an echo cardiogram on my heart. The ekg came back abnormal. My heart was beating faster than normal, the x-ray seemed to look normal and the echo came back normal as well. They gave me another round of antibiotics and another steroid. Only this time they did not seem to do much besides help my shortness of breath.
Upon returning to Georgia where I live, I kept gaining new and strange symptoms. I started getting headaches pretty regularly which is strange because I NEVER get headaches. stomach pains that had no rhyme or reason (pretty sporadic). I also started having achy joints and muscle pains with a few muscle spams in my left quad. Also I noticed a white/yellowish coating on my tongue. I then schedule an appointment with my doctor and she runs a bunch of tests. All of my tests come back normal and scheduled for a follow up.
By the next follow up I started developing testicle pain and tenderness along with my scrotum having a slightly red appearance. Also ear pain developed. She does many more tests along with an ANA thinking it may be lupus because of my rash which does have the appearance of the classic butterfly shape. She also tested for mycoplasma, Lyme, H pylori because of stomach pain. Almost everything came back negative including the ANA. The tests that came back abnormal was an elevated bilirubin and slightly overactive thyroid, although she said it wasn't in a range where it should be a concern.
Fast forward to now with many more doctor visits and test but still no solution. Only recently this week have I begun to feel some of my symptoms get better. None of them completely disappeared but have just become less frequent and less intense. One thing I am very concerned with is how this all seemed to have stemmed from my original "bad cold". I am worried mainly because some of my coworkers have been complaining of some similar symptoms. They did not know the extent of my problems because I tend to keep my private life private. One co worker complained of having frequent headaches with stomach pains and a general feeling of not being well. while another complained of having ear pain sore throat and stomach pain. I also noticed they all have a lingering cough. I then hang out with a friend that I hadn't seen in a few months and while having a conversation at lunch he tells me he has also been sick for about 4 months citing headaches, stomach pain, lack of energy, and testicle pain...
Upon further inspection they all also have a slightly blushed face. Not as bad as my rash but just slightly red. I feel as if these symptoms are too much of a coincidence. At this point I am extremely concerned and have no clue what this is and what to do next. Please, anyone have any ideas or anyone feeling a similar way? Thank you for reading and possibly answering. I will also say I left some things out to keep the story as short as possible so If any of you have any questions I will gladly answer them and clear them up.
