Strange sensation in chest area?

Every now and then I'll get a sensation that feels like breathlessness & pressure or that my heart is expanding if that makes sense? It would only last a few seconds but today a recent episode has yet to subside. It's like every time I breath my chest is filling up with air or some kind of pressure and about to explode unless I force myself to cough to relieve some of the pressure. It's seriously freaking me out not at all painful but it's a very uncomfortable feeling. Is this something I should get checked out or am I overreacting? I certainly hope this is common.

Please see a doctor - there are too many young people nowadays with heart conditions.  It could be any number of things - but even an anxiety attack could be serious.

Could even be  your gallbladder or stomach problems - hard to say.

I hope things go well for you.

If it is esophageal spasms, Dicylomine (prescription) works very well and very quickly.

Da Costa's syndrome, an anxiety state is my impression. But you need to rule out other conditions too.

Could it be an esphoigas spasm, they hurt and feel like a heart attack.  I get them when stressed and cannot swallow anything.  The other option could be chest wall air but that is also painful.  Not painful, could be an anxiety attack which are frightening usually triggered by stress.

The spasm mention, I have to force myself to cough to relieve pressure and many times it produces phlegm from the lungs that needed to come up.  More than usual active days and a carbonated beverage triggered the episode they call a "nutcracker esophogas spasm", they pass in 2-10 minutes with an antiacid or better with a low dose medication I keep in case of anxiety.  Hope this helps.

It's hard to say over the internet what this is. We can't diagnose conditions over the internet. I wish I could help more. I urge you to go to your doctor to get this checked out.

Best of luck!
