Swollen Abdomen, Reflux, Headache, Tiredness, Diarrhea

by adean, Sep 04, 2009 09:06AM
I have had bouts of IBS previously, and have learnt to live with it, what foods work and which don't.
I know what I am allergic too, and avoid these foods.
I dont drink alcohol or smoke. I'm 25 and female.
I'm not pregnant, the only medication I take is the contraceptive pill, Cerazette.

Recently I have lost alot of weight unexplainably. I have lost my appetite (which is usually very healthy!), my abdomen is extremely painful and tender. and VERY bloated. I have terrible cramps which wake me up at night. I have Diarrhea almost every day and am constipated in between. I have been sick a few times, and now have reflux which can also wake me up at night.I'm not able to digest food, it just sits in my stomach until I vomit.. Smells make my very nauseous, and i feel faint and then panic. To be honest I feel like I'm shutting down?

I suffer from headaches too, like a great pressure, blurred vision, and sometimes pain in my upper legs.

As I've said before, I know this sounds like IBS, i DO suffer from it, but this is unlike anything I've experienced.

Any suggestions??

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
I am sorry to hear about this. You either have an exacerbation of IBS or have developed associated conditions like Crohn’s and Celiac disease. IBS with Crohn’s is sometimes very difficult to control.
Memory loss is possible due to fatigue and general weakness due to loss of nutrients. The weight loss is because of diarrhea and the food not getting absorbed properly. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
