Swollen labia minora

After having intercourse with my boyfriend I came home to find my labia minora has been severely swollen, it's also red and very hard. It's uncomfortable to walk but it doesn't have much pain besides that. I barely noticed it until I felt something a little uncomfortable--I thought it was my underwear until I went to the bathroom and looked down to see how extremely swollen it had become. This has never happened before and we've been together for awhile. I'm really scared it might be something serious but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what it could be?

You will probably get other replies to provide you with more details.  All I will say is that, before you "try lube", simply a little more patience and foreplay will encourage nature to provide the remedy!

It's been two days, and after applying a cold compress the swelling did subside and it's completely back to normal. I think it was my being dry during the penetration, I'm going to try lube next time. Thankyou!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The possibilities could be rough sex or penetration on a dry vagina. The other possibility could be a STD or a local infection that subsides after some time. Another possibility is to check whether this partner is taking some medication that is excreted in sweat, urine or semen—you could be allergic to this medication. Condom allergy is also a possibility. In some cases women develop antisperm antibody locally. It could be an aggravated form of this reaction.
You can apply a cold compress within 24 hours. Use anti-inflammatory tablets. If the swelling does not subside in another day or two do consult a gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Take care!
