Thumping in my Right Ear

I usually sleep with earplugs, light sleeper, starting about 3 nights ago when putting in the right earplug I am hearing a distinct thumping noise.  I thought it was something in our home, but it is definitely in me.  I cannot sleep with the earplug as the noise wakes me up.  It pulsates at about 480 beats per minute, obviously faster than my heart rate.  Any thoughts?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
In all probability repeated use of ear plugs has caused ear infection and probably fluid in ear. Once the ear is closed by the ear plug this causes the thumping due to inflammation. It can also be due to wax in ear. Please consult an ENT. Take care!
