Thyroid and Welting Skin

I am hyperthyroid but my levels are all normal except for low TSH. My skin was itchy when my thyroid levels were high, and was told by my doctor that is normal for being hyperthyroid. However, after my thyroid levels normalized my skin began to welt tremendously even if I just barely scratched myself. I went to a dermatologist and he blamed it on my thyroid. My poor thyroid gets blamed for everything. I was wondering if this is something other thyroid patients experience or is it just another blame on the thyroid, in my case.

Thank you Kris for responding! I have a family physician and he's been able to keep the thyroid T3 and T4 levels under control. The TSH levels will eventually normalize in time, he said. He doesn't know what the welting is caused by and that's why I saw the dermatologist. I do not know if the dermatologist statement is a scientfic fact, but I will look for an endocrinologist and see if that is valid. The dermatologist gave me some medicines and it is working and getting better slowly. Thanks again for your response. I'll keep you posted when I find an endocrinologist.

Do you have an endocrinologist? It sounds like you need to have some more bloodwork done to determine what's causing this. Hyperthyroidism can cause SO many things. It's possible it could be causing this, but you need to find out if there's any other reason.
