Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
There are many medical causes for tinnitus. Any investigations like MRI of the ear, auditory tests etc been carried out so far? Have the ENT doctors found the cause?
I have a strong feeling that your tinnitus is stress related. Since it is not continuous, I doubt there is an associated medical condition. A quiet room gives a feeling of impending doom and starts your tinnitus.
I would strongly recommend you to see psychiatrist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Dear Kai1986, You are in the same boat as a lot of us. I've had tinntus since November of 2007. I really struggled with this problem and still have the annoying whistle 24/7. I tried just about everything.
I would suggest reading Kevin Hogan's book "Tinnitus: Turning Down the Volume". A lot of useful information here. Plus he's one of the many that has delt with one of the most severe cases you can imagine. Check out his site at www.kevinhogan.com.
Hi Kai,
I think I might have an idea what this is, as something like what you described happened to me. But my perspective is not a typical one. PM me if you'd like to discuss more. Thanks.
