Toonsy

For nearly 30 years I have had pain on the right side of my body.  It starts at my right eye and goes to the bottom of my right foot.  The pain is so divided one could actually draw a line down the middle of my body with a magic marker.  The right side feels exaggerated.  Cold is colder.  Hot is hotter.  And if something touches my right side the feeling stays whereas on my left side the feeling stops as soon as the touching stops.  I have seen a neurologist and two chiropractors.  The neurologist told me I had Weird Toonsy Disease.  The chiropractors could find nothing wrong.  I even saw a homepathic.  She could not find anything either.  I spent 10 days at Duke Medical Center in 1984 and was tested for everything they could think of.  They suggested I see a psychiatrist.  I have seen a fibromyalga specialist to be told that I do not have that either.
I am in pain.  When the wind blows I get cold chills on the right side of my body.  When I smell something pungent my right eye waters and runs.  Any ideas on what this could be?

The comment about Weird Toonsy Disease was the neurologists attempt at humor.  My name is Toonsy.  If I only have pain on one side of my body I must be weird.

Thank you.

I am not familiar with Toonsy Disease and cannot comment on it.

You have had a comprehensive workup with several specialists, and it would be unlikely that I can come up with something on the internet without examining you.

The symptoms sound neurologic in nature - obtaining another opinion at another major academic medical center can be considered.  Repeating the MRI and nerve conduction studies would be a reasonable initial approach.

If the tests continue to be negative, I would consider a pain management specialist, especially if the pain persists despite the numerous evaluations.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
