Topamax

I was taking Topamax, but it started my period up extremely heavy and painful. I do have Fibroid tumors in my uterus. Do you think it was the cause of it and if so do you know of something else I can go on to help with weight loss?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
No, Topamax is not associated with increase vaginal bleeding. The fibroids you have could be the culprit. Other causes of heavy bleeding which should be ruled out are adenomyosis, endometriosis, uterine polyps, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems and bleeding disorders. Please consult your gynecologist regarding this.
To lose weight, along with Tomamax, you will need to eat ah healthy diet, exercise regularly, and rule out causes like hypothyroidism, PCOD, and diabetes.
Do discuss this with your doctor and gynecologist and get yourself examined. Take care!
