Unusually dark blood (not even sure it IS a symptom)
Today when I had blood drawn, it looked like it was a brownish-purple color rather than red. I commented on it, and the doctor drawing the blood (an allergist) said that your blood can't be too dark, but I was wondering if this was something to mention to my regular doctor.
I hope this isn't a stupid question, just one of those things...
How are you?
Blood normally drawn from veins is not bright red it is rather dark red or purple in color. This is because venous blood is deoxygenated blood and is high in carbon dioxide.
Hope this answers your question!
