I have been experiencing vaginal itch right before my period. This has been happening now for several months now. At first I thought it was the pantiliners that I use when I know I'm getting my period, but I stopped using them and its still there. I have began to use vagisil for the itch but it really hasn't helped much. I've made an appt with a gyno to see if I can get any relief. As I read severa women have the same problem. This had never happened to me before. I nursed my now 4yr old til she was 2.5 yrs old and I didnt get my period again til like 5-6 months later. I just turned 39 in august. Could this have something to do with age and the fact that I didnt have my period for such a long time. I have other daughters ages 19, 15, 14. I only nursed them for a very short time and my period came back even as I nursed so this makes me wonder....Has anyone found anything else that gives them any relief....?
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Vaginal itch just before periods could be due to fungal infection or as apart of premenstrual symptoms. It could also be due to dry vagina. The treatment will depend on the diagnosis hence please consult your gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I have this same itching before period problem for the last two years. I have found a very reliable solution. A combination of Benadryl or Cortaid anti-itch cream and Monistat anti-itch cream works wonderful. The Monistat helps to heal the skin as well. Please give it a try.
