Weight Gain

At what point do you get concerned about weight gain?  I feel completely ridiculous posting this.  I'm 34.  I've always been pretty active, not a marathon runner but active.  I eat pretty good.  We don't have any snack food at home since one of my kiddos eats all, I do have one can of pop a day but otherwise I eat pretty balanced.

In Jan and early Feb I weighed 125.  i was getting married and watching my weight closer than normal.  I got sick in March, eventually went to the doc to get an antibiotic and noticed I was in the mid 130's.  I had worked out much while I was sick so I made sure to get back into my routine once I felt better.  Towards mid April I noticed my clothes weren't fitting but tried to not think about it but then I wen to the chiropracter and I was 145.  I really up'd my workouts, started runnign 15-20 miles a week plus some cross training but now I am at 150.  I've held at 150 for a couple of weeks.  I have no other problematic symptoms.  No pain.

May need to see a endocrinologist to have your thyroid checked. Symptoms of an under-active thyroid include unexplained weight gain, fatigue, slow heartbeat, constipation, dry skin and a low tolerance for cold. The stress of trying to keep up with hormone needs can cause your gland to swell and create a bump in your lower neck.

I say have your hormone levels checked, as this could be a cause of weight-gain and a h rd time getting it off.  As women approach middle age, their hormone balances change.  It would not surprise me if this was the culprit.  Blessings - Blu

You are already concerned about having put weight on so quickly.

You can check on line what your BMI is for your height and weight and you will then know if you are overweight, obese or morbidly obese.

You already feel uncomfortable and I have detected that you are concerned because you have upped your workouts and are eating well.

You do realise that if you build muscles you will weigh heavier.  Muscle weighs more than fat.

If you find that you are keeping within the calorie intake of food recommended for men and are still putting weight on despite everything you are doing, then make an appointment with your doctor to check your thyroid level.  An underactive thyroid glad will make it very difficult for your to lose weight.

Best wishes.
