Weird "scar" on leg near groin area.

Hi, I'm 19 years old, and recently I noticed what appears to be a scar on my leg. I took a picture and put it at http://i.imgur.com/kigGh.jpg

I have no clue what this is... The skin is completely numb, would someone please explain? I've not noticed this before, but it could've been around for awhile...

The only difference I have had then dMix is about 3 months ago my scrotum area got really dry and scaly and I could peel the skin away that was scaled. That went away after a few days and has happened since or ever before that. What could this be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I too have a similar looking scar almost on the same exact place on the inner part of my thigh. It starts from the base of my groin area and extends about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long into my thigh. I'm 20, havent had any big weight changes, well fit and active. Any further news on what this could be? dMix what did your doctor say?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
This looks more like a bruise. Deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K could be the cause. They could also be fragile spider veins. It can be due to deep vein thrombosis (however usually there is pain on pressing). It can be a hemnagioma. Other than that Bowen’s disease can cause a red patch and this is an early form of skin cancer (less likely in your case due to the appearance). It can also be an allergic reaction to something or a bruise due to scratching dry skin or fungal infection. Please consult a PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral to a skin specialist. Take care!

Thanks for the comments; I've had no changes in my weight / height lately... Its been pretty constant for the past 2 years or so.

I've got an appointment this afternoon (it's something like 4AM here...) so hopefully that will help clear my mind.

I agree with bluegummie...have you had any change to your weight recently? A new stretch mark from recent growth in height or weight gain and/or loss can look reddish or bluish purple. Over time they fade into your skin tone, becoming mostly unnoticeable. It won't look like that in a couple of months if that's what it is.
If you're worried, run it by your pcp to be sure, but that's what it looks like to me too.
