Whiplash and Chiari Symptoms

In 2001, I had a whiplash where I had hit my nose on a 5" steel pipe and then flew backwards and hit the back of my head on the cage of a tractor.
I didn't seek medical treatment right away, at the time I was having everyday mild headaches.
In May 2005, I did have a septoplasty to remove a spur in the nose. This did not help my headaches.
Over the next few months, my mild headaches turned into migraine type headaches. The pain basically starts at the base of my skull and radiates over the top of my head and into the forehead & face. The pain increases when I have to exert or bend over.
There is a lot of pressure in the head & ears. The pain is the worst in the morning. I have numbness & tingling in the extremities. My neck is very stiff and I'm unable to bend foward and back.
I have been to many doctors in the last 5 years. All my MRIs turn out to be normal, although the Diamond Headache Clinic said its possible I have borderline Chiari. I was then told by another specialist, its not enough of a herniation to do surgery. I did have my spinal pressure checked and at the time in (2003) it was normal.
In 2004, I received nerve block injections, facet joint injections & recently radio-frequency lesioning. Nothing is helping my pain.
My chronic pain is daily and is becoming worse. I can't even work or even get out of bed somedays.
Is it possible that there is some kind of a compression that is not showing on the MRIs? Can decompression surgery be done even though the cerebral tonsils are not herniated, but symptoms just keep progressing?

I had septoplasty done in 2001 not 2005!I had it done because i had nasal airway obstruction and to remove the spur. The surgery did not help.I still can't breath good threw my nose. Ever since my accident,i have always had salt watery mucus down my throat. It's worse with exertion and bending over.My head feels like its going to explode when i do one or the other, especialy when first sitting up after sleeping!Do you think that it might be possible that after having three spinal taps, there's maybe a very slow csf leak?

Thanks

CSF leakage...That's a possibility even after sinus surgery, I think. Don't quote me on that.
My niece had to have surgery for Chairi. I looked it up on the net just recently & noticed there is many times that they do not know the degree of the disease until they are in doing the surgery. Tese pts. all had MRI's done prior to surgery. Type it into your search engine & check it out.
I don't know where your from but I think I would persue this diagnosis more & also have the CSF leakage investigated. Either diagnosis could be serious.
Maybe you could go to a major teaching hospital & get more specialist treatment under one roof, so to speak. Sometimes they will investigate symptoms more thourghly than local specialist because of case studies.
                       Good Luck, J
