Whole body vibrations upon waking and severe muscle spasms daily.

I wake up vibrating all over and also deal with frequent (around 30+ times a day) muscle spams all over but mostly focused in my legs. What could all of this mean? I'm only 20 years old. I'm overweight. I do not smoke or drink and I stay away from caffeinated beverages. I have a lot of stress due to school but nothing I can't handle. I do take a sleep aid, the generic of Ambien, Zolpidem 10 mg each night for an episode of insomnia. I also am very Vitamin D deficient but have been working at that by doing a treatment, under supervision, of 50,000 I.U. once a week. I have heart burn and acid reflux but my Zantac soothes that. Any ideas why I would be waking up with whole body vibrations? And I having so many muscle spasms? It worries me, too that I have a stiff neck. I've been receiving therapy for it and its gotten seemingly better since the Vitamin D treatment but there was never an explanation for it. Also, I was diagnosed with Myofascial Pain Disorder during my neck period because I was also having TMJ. I just don't see how any of this is connected but I feel like there is no WAY someone my age can just have that many health problems. Help :/

Thank you for your advice. I had a feeling it could be the ambien but its strange............... because the waking up shaking thing happened to me a few times before I ever started ambien. Not to say that I don't have a LOT of those side effects that your link mentioned. So I'm going to come off gradually by taking one every other night then every 3rd night then not at all. Thank you for your help. I will consider the vitamin B advice and I will look around at Celiac . Again, thanks for all of your help!

It could very well be a side effect of the medication.  Ambien is extremely strong medication for a young person.  You should taper off it as directed and use less toxic means to induce sleep.  Exercise that induces deep breathing where you expand your rib cage such as jogging, will help regulate your sleep schedule.  You need to retain your brain to stop swirling over unsolved problems.  So reading something kind of boring or watching TV can help some people.  I have tried many medications, but have concluded that drug-free is better.  You could use valerian herb to help wean yourself off the prescriptions.  It smells terrible but works quite well.  I think you should also be on a multivitamin/mineral to get your B vitamins up.  Get checked for gluten problems.  Celiac disease can cause body-wise symptoms that are very vague and doctors don't recognize.  Vitamin deficiency and musculoskeletal pain are just a couple of the 250 possible symptoms of Celiac disease.  Changing your diet would cure the symptoms instead of just the symptoms.
